Kate is an experienced executive coach, trainer and civil servant. She joined the Department for Education in 2006 as a Strategy Adviser, and established three cross-cutting external working groups to co-produce the government’s Children’s Plan of 2007 – a 10 year strategy to improve children and young people’s lives. Her first policy role was in Special Educational Needs and Disability and she led her teams through a major Green Paper review, in close collaboration with local government, health and voluntary sectors. This resulted in the most significant legislative changes for 30 years.
